27th Jewellery Symposium in Turnov: A Convergence of Creativity

In the heart of Turnov, Czechia, eleven internationally renowned contemporary jewellery artists gathered for the 27th Jewellery Symposium at the Museum of Bohemian Paradise, an immersive week-long exchange of ideas, experimentation, and artistic innovation. Surrounded by the region’s rich history of gemstone cutting and craftsmanship, the symposium provided a dynamic environment for artists to explore new inspirations and push the boundaries of their creative practices.

This year’s distinguished participants—Pavel Opočenský, Herman Hermsen, Peter Vermandere, Levan Jishkariani, Alejandra Campos Taylor, Soňa Kabaňová, Farieda Nazier, Susan Ewing, Oldřich Sládek, Martina Dempf, and emerging talent Václav Soukup—engaged deeply with their surroundings, drawing from the textures, landscapes, and cultural heritage of Turnov. The result was an exceptional body of work that reflects the intersection of contemporary jewellery with place, memory, and materiality.

Throughout the symposium, the artists experimented with a variety of materials and techniques, fostering cross-disciplinary dialogue and redefining the possibilities of adornment. From sculptural forms to conceptual interpretations, the pieces created during the event stand as a testament to the power of artistic collaboration and site-specific influence.

The 27th Jewellery Symposium in Turnov continues its legacy as a vital platform for contemporary jewellery discourse, where tradition meets innovation and where artists come together to shape the future of the field.
